What I'm currently working on
March 2025: At the moment, I'm trying to figure out what's next. After 10+ years of working on HelloMusicTheory and growing it to over 1,000,000 visits a month, Google wiped it out with its "Helpful Content" updates. Now, I'm figuring out what's next.
Hello Music Theory (2014-Present)
I'm still working on HelloMusicTheory.com, as with all the resources I've made and guides I've written, it's still got potential. Taking a little break from it at the moment, though. I'm currently trying to figure out how Facebook plays into it and also making YouTube video quizzes.
Craft Owl (2024-Present)
After hearing Cody Schneider talk about the idea of selling SVGs to crafters, I started a little Etsy store. It's been slow, but this year (Jan 2025), I finally got the website finished, too - CraftOwl.com. Here, you can get a monthly subscription to access all the images. It's been fun so far.
BulkGPTVision (coming soon)
I've been really enjoying playing around with some of the AI coding tools like Cursor, Replit, and V0. One of the tasks I used it for was writing product descriptions for all the images on CraftOwl. So I built a tool to use GPT vision in bulk (I had to do 10,000 images, so I wasn't doing that 1-by-1. Learning as I go, but I'll launch it soon.
Other Random Projects
Like most people, my domain registrar is littered with a lot of domains for ideas of business I want to start. Here are a few of the ones I at least got live. Some of these I built, others I bought.
Chess Delta - I'm obsessed with Chess (playing 10-20 games a day 😂) so I bought this site to play around with (but haven't done much with it).
Templates For Carrd - I love the simplicity of Carrd.co. I've mostly used WordPress and so the ease of spinning up a quick site with Carrd has been great. If you need a simple website done quickly, then check out some of my templates here.
ClickTrackGenerator - A simple little app I built with Replit to help people make and download click tracks.
ClarinetPracticePro - A little YouTube channel I started in 2025 with different clarinet practice exercises. It's also very early, but with all the assets I've made from running HelloMusicTheory, it makes sense to repurpose them here. If it goes well I'll do other instruments too.
Previous Projects
Here's a few things I'm no longer working on.
BlankCanvasEntertainment (2014-2016) - After working as a musician and magician after graduating, I had a lot of event contacts, so I started an event entertainment agency with a friend. It was good fun but too admin-heavy for me so I sold my stake in 2016
PingPongRuler (2019-2021) After discovering affiliate marketing and learning SEO, I bought this site on Reddit to be my project to learn at test with. I redesigned it, rewrote all the content and then sold it 18 months later for a nice little profit.
